Democratic National Convention-- CONCERT!!!

Right now I don't have time to go into detail about the show but until tomorrow I'll leave this little tidbit.
Tent State University put on a concert here in Denver today in support of Iraq Veterans Against the War.
The concert featured State Radio, The Coup, Flobots, and was headlined by Rage Against the Machine. Between each band there were special speakers from IVAW, disabled veterans (Ron Kovic), and the former lead singer of The Dead Kennedys.

Following the concert there was a peaceful, non-violent protest that marched from the Denver Coliseum to the Pepsi Center where the DNC was being held. There were no riots, no violence, no arrests, and a peaceful dispersing of the masses. Police are guessing that there were around 9,000 people in attendance at the concert and about 2,500 of those continued on to the march to the Pepsi Center. Police were cooperative and guided the march along and were prepared for the worst. Word has it that police were astounded that there were no incidents. There were chants and banners and a sense of unity throughout the group. We were all there to make our voices heard, not to fight. There were several members of IVAW that headed up the march and members of the bands from the concert marched as well.

It was truly an amazing experience. I, however, ran out of battery in my camera and didn't have a backup set so there are no pictures. I will do my best to find some on the internetz and will give credit where it is due.

Till tomorrow...
